SIX YEARS THAT CHANGED EVERYTHING

“I wish I could have spent more of that time simply being their son.”

I moved closer to my parents thinking I would hire a couple to help as they aged. Instead, I spent six years putting my own life on hold.

Mom’s memory care cost more than $10,000 a month. We still paid her former caregiver to visit several times a day, at random, to make sure she was being cared for.

Dad and I had just bought an old Porsche Speedster together. Then came two falls, two traumatic brain injuries and a world that kept getting smaller. Friends died. Visits dwindled. I became his recruiter, scheduler and medical coordinator. It took almost four years to find a care team we both trusted.

I loved my father. I would do it all again. But I wish more of our time together had been spent living, instead of managing care.

In February 2026, on my first vacation in six years, I met Dr. Janna. Less than six weeks later, I moved Dad to the Dominican Republic. His face would light up when she arrived; in his final month, he would blow her kisses.

She cared for me, too. She recognized my burnout and gave me peace of mind—the chance to begin reclaiming my own life. Today, she is Dunmore’s Medical Director & Founding Angel, leading the physician team inspired by that experience.

Our Medical Director, Dr. Janna, leads a team of physicians dedicated to the health, comfort, and well-being of our residents.

With only approximately 14–16 residents across our first three luxury homes, our approach allows for a remarkably personal approach to medical care.

Dr. Janna knows every resident personally, while her physician colleagues provide continuity of care, daily oversight, and coverage when she is unavailable.

Our residents aren’t simply assigned a doctor. They are cared for by a coordinated medical team that knows them.

Each resident has a dedicated personal caregiver, supported by the broader medical team. Dedicated attention during waking hours, familiar routines and companionship are central to our residential model. Most frontline caregivers are nurses.

At least two nurses are on duty in each residence day and night, in addition to dedicated caregivers. Physicians, nurses, caregivers and families coordinate around the resident’s needs.

One caregiver for each acute assisted-living or memory-care resident during waking hours, with most frontline caregivers also nurses.

A Team Lead in each home, a Family Lead for your family, daily oversight from the physician team led by Dr. Janna, and at least two nurses on duty in each home at all times in addition to dedicated caregivers. Therapists and other professionals support the care experience.
